Guwahati: The Assam State Election Commission started drafting electoral rolls for the Mising Autonomous Council polls. Officials released the order on June 30. The final voter list hits the public record on August 17.

District Commissioners must follow the 2005 Election Rules to build the list. They will use the February 2026 Assembly electoral roll as a base. January 1, 2026, serves as the qualifying date for all voters. Electoral Registration Officers will carve out constituency rolls based on new boundaries from a January 2025 delimitation. These officers were appointed by the state on June 29.

The clock is ticking. Preliminary work runs through July 5. Staff will handle data entry and mapping through July 12. Draft rolls go live on July 22. Public feedback matters here. The Commission stated the exercise will include "inviting and disposing of claims, objections and corrections before the publication of the final rolls."

Citizens have until August 6 to file claims or objections. Officials will finish reviewing these requests by August 13. The final count settles on August 17.
