Guwahati: The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee named former Member of Parliament Abdul Khaleque as advisor to its media department. He starts the job immediately. The move aims to sharpen the party's outreach and public communication efforts across the state.

APCC president Gaurav Gogoi greenlit the appointment. General Secretary Ramanna Baruah signed the official order on Saturday. Khaleque reports directly to the state president while working alongside the department chairman to steer party messaging.

The party circulated the news to high-level leadership, including AICC General Secretaries K.C. Venugopal and Jitendra Singh. It also went to local MPs and MLAs. Khaleque takes this post as part of an ongoing organizational shift. "The appointment is part of the party's organisational framework and comes into force immediately," the order stated. His experience in previous organizational roles will guide his work in this new capacity.
