Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma pushed back against critics on June 5, claiming that official statistics prove the Indian economy remains resilient and robust. He argued that despite efforts by opposition parties to present a negative economic outlook, the latest data confirms that India continues to rank among the fastest-growing major economies in the world.

Sarma highlighted positive projections for the 2025-26 fiscal year, noting that real Gross Domestic Product is expected to grow by 7.7 per cent. Additionally, real Gross Value Added is projected to increase by 7.9 per cent. According to the Chief Minister, these figures validate the effectiveness of policy decisions implemented under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The Chief Minister attributed this growth to consistent economic reforms and policy stability, which have helped the nation navigate global uncertainties. He emphasized that the country has maintained its upward trajectory despite significant international challenges. Addressing the positive outlook, Sarma stated, "The India Growth Story continues unabated," while reaffirming that the national reform agenda remains a primary driver of success.
