Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has finalized the distribution of portfolios for his newly constituted Council of Ministers. The allocations were made following formal approval from Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya.
Sarma continues to lead several critical departments, including Home and Political, Power, Information and Public Relations, and the Public Works Department. He will also manage any government responsibilities not specifically assigned to other cabinet members.
Key appointments include Jayanta Mallabaruah, who takes over Finance, Environment and Forest, and Mines and Minerals. Ashok Singhal remains in charge of Health and Family Welfare alongside Medical Education and Research. Ranoj Pegu will oversee education sectors and Information Technology, while Pijush Hazarika assumes responsibility for Agriculture, Irrigation, and Parliamentary Affairs.
Other ministers received diverse assignments to manage state affairs. Keshab Mahanta will handle Revenue and Disaster Management, Bimal Borah is tasked with Industries and Cultural Affairs, and Biswajit Daimary is set to manage Sports and Skill Development. Additional portfolios were distributed to Kaushik Rai, Krishnendu Paul, Nilima Devi, Susanta Borgohain, and Ashwini Ray Sarkar to cover social justice, infrastructure, and local development needs.
Following the announcement, Sarma offered his support to his cabinet colleagues. He stated, "With the approval of the Hon’ble Governor of Assam, I am pleased to announce the allocation of portfolios amongst the members of the Council of Ministers of the Government of Assam, as follows." The Chief Minister expressed confidence that the team will work with dedication to drive the state toward continued progress.
