Guwahati: Political anticipation is building in Assam as Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma prepares to expand his cabinet on June 5. The official swearing-in ceremony will take place at the Jyoti Bishnu Kala Mandir in Guwahati at 12:45 pm.
While the government has yet to release an official roster, a probable list of inductees has surfaced within political circles. This anticipated list includes Ashok Singhal, Ranoj Pegu, Pijush Hazarika, Jayanta Malla Baruah, Bimal Bora, Kaushik Rai, Keshab Mahanta, Ashwini Rai Sarkar, Bolin Chetia, Tuliram Ronghang, Sushanta Borgohain, Mayur Borgohain, and Dharmeswar Konwar. Additionally, sources suggest that either Krishnendu Paul or Rajdeep Roy may join the cabinet, alongside a potential pick between Padma Hazarika and Bhupen Borah.
The upcoming reshuffle is regarded as a significant move as the state approaches the 2026 Assam Assembly elections. Regarding the status of the changes, officials noted that, "the final composition of the cabinet will only become clear once the official announcement is made and the ministers take oath on June 5."
A wide range of stakeholders, including senior BJP leaders, alliance partners, legislators, and various government officials, are expected to attend the event to witness the induction.
