Guwahati: The Assam Cabinet pushed forward a major clean energy shift on July 31. Ministers approved the Assam Compressed Biogas Policy 2026 to jumpstart production. It creates a six-pillar incentive framework to attract investors. Projects move fast. The Commissioner of Industries and Commerce will now run a single-window clearance desk to speed up construction.

The state also tightened its grip on environmental protections. Officials signed off on the official notification of the Rakhyasini and Tharko Nalbari proposed reserve forests. Both sites sit in the Goalpara district. Protecting these tracts helps the state guard ecologically important areas and grow its green cover.

Regulatory changes are coming for businesses and state staff. Manufacturers of weighing and measuring tools gain new flexibility under the updated Assam Legal Metrology Rules 2026. Companies can now choose self-certification or third-party verification to meet standards. This move aims to strip away red tape and lower the regulatory burden.

Veterinary services face a shake-up as well. The cabinet cleared the Assam Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Subordinate Service (Amendment) Rules 2026. These rules set new terms for hiring and working conditions. The government stated the measures aim to "ensure transparent and merit-based selection" for veterinary field assistants. These updates reach across the state to unify service conditions and improve animal care.
