Guwahati: Diksha Tiwari put Assam on the map in Georgia. The athlete from Biswanath district hauled in three medals for India at the 2026 Batumi Open Wushu Championship. She dominated the Taolu events in Batumi. She took home two silver medals and one bronze.

Tiwari mastered the southern-style barehand and broadsword routines. She earned her silvers in the Nanquan and Nandao categories, and grabbed a bronze in Nanquan. The win is a massive deal for the region. Celebrations erupted across Naduar and Biswanath following the result.

This success rests on years of sweat. Discipline and grit defined her run at the tournament. Her parents, Umesh Tiwari and Sabita Bharali Tiwari, provided the steady backing needed to reach the global stage. Tiwari credited her team for the accomplishment, stating, "Diksha has expressed gratitude to everyone who supported her journey and contributed to her success on the international stage." Her performance proves that local athletes can go toe-to-toe with the world's best.
