Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh based April Blossom Foundation just took home the top prize at the SA Indian School Awards. Boxing legend Mary Kom handed over the Best School Award in recognition of the group's work for kids with special needs.
The school sits in Lekhi Village near Naharlagun. It has spent the last five years giving out free education and therapy to students who need extra care. The staff focuses on life skills. They want every child to reach their full potential.
Early intervention is the backbone of their operation. Many children with autism have made massive strides under their watch. Several students even moved into mainstream classrooms after getting the right support. The foundation remains firm on its core mission. As the school noted, the foundation is "committed to inclusive education and community service." They provide these services to local families at no cost.
