Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh police arrested a 19-year-old man, John Loda, on June 9 in connection with a series of stalking and assault cases reported in the Itanagar Capital Region. Loda, a resident of Seppa in the East Kameng district, faces multiple charges under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including house trespass, stalking, and criminal intimidation.

Authorities linked the suspect to two separate incidents occurring in the early hours of June 7. The first complaint, filed at the Naharlagun Police Station, involved a woman who reported being stalked by an unidentified man. The suspect allegedly attempted to break into her home at 3 a.m. using two pairs of scissors, causing significant alarm for the victim's safety.

A second incident took place shortly after at 3:30 a.m. in the village of Lekhi. A woman told police that an intruder entered her rented room while she was sleeping. The assailant attempted to cover her mouth and used scissors to cut her clothing. The victim managed to fight back and escaped with minor facial injuries, forcing the attacker to flee the scene.

Inspector Krishnendu Dev led the police team that identified and apprehended the suspect. Naharlagun Superintendent of Police Dr. Nyelam Nega commended the women for their swift actions. He stated, "The SP also urged residents to ensure proper security measures, including keeping doors and windows locked, especially during night hours." Police officials have pledged to continue taking strict action against those who commit crimes against women in the region.
