Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh is on high alert as relentless rain triggers floods and landslides across the state. Home Minister Mama Natung ordered rescue teams to work on a war footing to save stranded residents.
State authorities deployed the National Disaster Response Force and the State Disaster Response Force to lead the relief effort. Local police and district administrators are also on the ground to manage the fallout. IAF helicopters are currently reaching areas cut off by rising water and debris.
The government claims relief stocks are holding steady. Natung confirmed, "There will be no shortage of ration or essential items in the flood-affected areas of the state."
Heavy weather continues to batter the region. Officials warned citizens to stay off the roads until the storm breaks. "I appeal to all to avoid movement during this peak monsoon period," Natung said.
