Itanagar: The government of Arunachal Pradesh has officially designated the Pineapple Expo in the West Siang district village of Bagra as an annual state event. This decision, reached during a recent cabinet meeting, aims to strengthen the regional horticulture sector, improve market access for farmers, and encourage growth in agro-tourism.
First launched in 2024, the festival focuses on promoting the unique taste and nutritional profile of local pineapples. By granting the event state status, the government hopes to enhance the brand visibility of regional produce, draw in outside investment, and provide new opportunities for local self-help groups and rural entrepreneurs.
Dumar Bagra, chairman of the All Bagra Welfare Society, expressed gratitude toward Chief Minister Pema Khandu and the state cabinet for the recognition. He noted that the new status will help connect local growers with food technologists and exporters. The society also credited MLA Topin Ete for his instrumental role in advocating for the proposal, which promises to transform the local agricultural economy.
