Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu has commended several organizations for their successful World Bicycle Day event. The Department of Sports and Youth Affairs, the Arunachal Cycling Association, the Sports Authority of India, and My Bharat coordinated the programme to raise awareness about fitness and sustainable transportation.
Khandu shared his support on X, stating that the day serves as a reminder to "adopt active lifestyles, encourage environmentally friendly modes of transport and work towards building a healthier society." He noted that cycling offers a practical method for residents to maintain their physical health while simultaneously lowering carbon emissions.
The Chief Minister highlighted the importance of cycling as a tool for recreation and community building. By encouraging public participation, he believes the state can better support environmental conservation and reach sustainable development goals.
