Itanagar: Nirjuli Police busted two suspected drug traffickers on June 22. Officers intercepted a scooty near the Truck Terminal in Lekhi Village after a short pursuit. The riders were hauling 22.6 grams of suspected heroin. They were moving the stash from Banderdewa toward the Capital Region when police closed in.

Inspector T. Hassang led the stop while SDPO Rishi Longdo supervised the operation. Officers identified the suspects as 32-year-old Munmun Morang and 30-year-old Bikram Doley, both hailing from Assam. A search turned up 17 plastic vials filled with an orange powder.

The drugs were found in Morang's possession. Authorities processed the evidence in the presence of Executive Magistrate Khoda Bath. Police officially charged both men under Section 21(b) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act.

Superintendent of Police Dr. Nyelam Nega spoke on the department's ongoing mission to clean up the streets. He stated, "Arunachal Pradesh Police is committed towards creating a drug-free society." Investigators are now working to map out the trafficking network and identify everyone involved in the supply chain.
