Itanagar: Flash floods and landslides hammered Yazali on Wednesday, June 24, tearing through infrastructure and displacing families. Heavy rains hit the region hard. National Highway-13 suffered major damage, specifically along the Hoj-Yazali corridor. The NEEPCO settlement in Possa bore the brunt of the destruction.

Rajya Sabha MP Tai Tagak confirmed that a teacher at the VKV NEEPCO school, Nirmala Gupta, died in the disaster. Search crews are still hunting for others missing in the wreckage. Tagak praised the police and disaster teams for their quick work but demanded a faster pace for ongoing recovery efforts.

"Tagak urged authorities to continue close monitoring of vulnerable areas and ensure timely assistance reaches all affected residents." He told locals living near the Panyor River to stay sharp as weather risks persist. He also warned commuters to stay off the Hoj-Potin road until officials confirm it is safe to travel.

The MP requested that all citizens stay vigilant and follow official warnings. Heavy rain continues to threaten the state. Residents must cooperate with authorities to avoid further casualties while recovery teams work to clear the roads and restore power.
