Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh athletes are hitting the road for Shillong. They head to the 14th Senior National Pencak Silat Championship, running July 6 to 8 in Meghalaya. The Sports Authority of Arunachal backed the group before they left.
Director Gumnya Karbak met with the team, handing out kits to every player and staffer. He told the group to "compete with dedication, discipline and sportsmanship while bringing laurels to the state." The team counts 25 members total, with 22 athletes, two coaches, and one official.
They plan to fight in both tanding and artistic categories. This meet acts as a high-stakes qualifier. Winners punch their ticket to the 3rd Khelo India Beach Games in Diu and the 39th National Games in 2027. Officials expect the squad to hold the state's reputation high on the mat.
