Army Truck Crashes into Arunachal Gorge, One Soldier Dead

Itanagar: An Army truck tumbled into a deep gorge along National Highway 13 on June 26, killing one soldier. Two others sustained injuries in the wreck. The vehicle, part of the 18 Sikh Light Infantry, carried three personnel toward their unit when the driver lost control near Dirang in West Kameng district.

The truck smashed through chain-link fencing at the 30 Battalion Sashastra Seema Bal base before dropping down the steep hillside. It was 2 pm. Rescuers from the nearby SSB unit sprinted to the crash site to begin operations.

Medics rushed the survivors to local clinics. One man received first aid at the SSB medical room before heading to the District Hospital in Bomdila. Doctors at the Dirang Community Health Centre confirmed the death of one soldier. The others remain under medical care. Official sources noted, "further details regarding the cause of the accident are awaited."
