Armed robbers target Guwahati jeweler in Lal Ganesh

Guwahati: Armed robbers held a jeweler at gunpoint in Guwahati on August 8. The incident occurred at 10.30 pm in the Lal Ganesh neighborhood. The businessman was heading home after closing his shop. Assailants intercepted him near his front door. They snatched a bag stuffed with cash and gold worth several lakh rupees. The thieves fired a shot into the air before fleeing. Nobody was hurt.

News of the heist hit the wires on Wednesday, August 19. Dispur Police are handling the case. They have no suspects yet. No arrests have been made. Investigators are still calculating the exact value of the stolen goods. The heist follows a similar armed robbery at a business in Borbari. Traders are on edge. A local source stated, "The incident has drawn attention to the security of jewellery traders in Guwahati." Authorities are searching for leads as the investigation continues.
