Agartala: Elected representatives from ten Gram Panchayats gathered at the Amarpur Block Development Office on Tuesday to confront BDO Sanjib Debnath regarding the lack of rural development. The Pradhans and Up-Pradhans claim that civic services have been disrupted for three months and that various government projects have come to a complete standstill.
According to the delegation, the BDO has managed administrative affairs unilaterally since his appointment three months ago. They accused him of failing to communicate with local leaders and ignoring the mandate to hold monthly Standing Committee meetings. Tensions escalated during the meeting, with representatives reporting that the BDO reacted aggressively when questioned about the lack of consultation on development activities.
Sanjib Debnath denied the accusations and dismissed the claims as groundless. He stated that all government programs are moving forward according to established guidelines and that development work remains steady. The Panchayat leaders are now calling for a formal investigation by the district administration to address these concerns and resolve the administrative standoff.
