Aizawl: Aizawl police shut down a vehicle theft ring on Monday. Officers arrested four suspects living in the Durtlang area after a months-long investigation. The group includes Zakaria Ahmed, Noor Ahmed, Babul Hussain, and Junil Hussain, all 19 years old and originally from Assam.

The crackdown began after someone pinched a Yamaha R15 V3 near Bawngkawn. Police registered a case on January 18. Investigators soon tracked the trail to the suspects. They were active from November 2025 through January 2026. The gang hit multiple targets across the city.

Police found the stolen Yamaha in Zuangtui. They also grabbed two more motorcycles the men swiped between Sunday and Monday. During questioning, the thieves admitted they moved some stolen bikes across state lines. The accused stated that "some of the stolen motorcycles were sold in Silchar, Assam."

A judge gave the police 72 hours of custody for the group. Detectives are still hunting for more stolen property and digging into wider criminal ties.
