Guwahati: The All India United Democratic Front is officially preparing for the Nagaon Lok Sabha by-election. Party General Secretary Rafiqul Islam confirmed that the organization plans to field a competitive candidate once internal leadership consultations are complete.
This electoral race follows the resignation of former Congress MP Pradyut Bordoloi, who recently joined the Bharatiya Janata Party. Addressing the vacancy, Islam stated that the party has already started grassroots mobilization to connect with voters across the constituency.
The AIUDF leadership expects to finalize its choice for the seat shortly after the party president returns. According to Islam, the organization remains focused on advocating for the development of Assam and the specific needs of minority communities.
During his address, Islam criticized the trend of elected officials switching party loyalties after winning mandates. He urged the electorate to back the AIUDF, noting, "The AIUDF remains committed to representing Assam's development concerns in Parliament, particularly issues affecting minority communities."
