Guwahati: Air India Express is officially linking Northeast India to the Middle East. The airline announced the first non-stop international flights from Guwahati to Dubai and Abu Dhabi. This marks a major shift for local travel. The service to Dubai starts August 4, followed by the Abu Dhabi route on August 7.
Flights to Dubai run every Tuesday. Planes leave Guwahati at 12:25 pm and touch down in Dubai at 4:10 pm. The return flight departs at 5:10 pm. The Abu Dhabi service runs every Friday. These jets depart Guwahati at 11:30 am and arrive in the capital at 3:15 pm. Return flights leave at 4:15 pm.
The airline expects these routes to boost trade and regional tourism. Officials stated that the new connections are expected to improve international connectivity for the region and support tourism, trade and cultural exchange with the United Arab Emirates. Passengers can book tickets now via the website or mobile app.
Guwahati remains a massive hub for the carrier. Air India Express currently runs 120 weekly flights from the city. With these new additions, the airline now handles over 290 weekly flights across Guwahati, Dibrugarh, Dimapur, and Imphal. Aircraft will continue to feature local art on their tails, including traditional motifs from the Northeast.
