Agartala: Agartala handed out 28 new work orders under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Urban 2.0 scheme in Ward No. 18 of the Bordowali area. This rollout marks the first Detailed Project Report for the 2026-27 cycle. The local government is pushing to speed up urban home delivery.
BJP corporator Abhishek Dutta led the event. He confirmed that 34 total families were picked for the program in this ward. While six families face money trouble and cannot start building yet, the other 28 now have the green light to break ground. Dutta claimed the aid reaches everyone regardless of their party ties. "The scheme’s benefits are being extended to all eligible citizens without political bias," he said.
The cash help has grown. Each household now gets Rs 2.5 lakh, a jump from the previous Rs 1.66 lakh. This money comes in four parts: two payments of Rs 50,000 and two of Rs 75,000. The federal government covers Rs 2.25 lakh, while the state puts in Rs 25,000.
Housing numbers are climbing. Only one house was sanctioned in this ward under the fifth DPR before the BJP took control of the Agartala Municipal Corporation. Since then, 36 houses cleared under the sixth DPR and 28 more under the seventh. These orders drive the national Housing for All goal forward.
