Shillong: Abhilash Baranwal officially assumed the role of Deputy Commissioner for the East Khasi Hills District on Monday. He previously served as the Deputy Commissioner for Ri-Bhoi.
Baranwal replaces Rosetta Mary Kurbah in the position. Kurbah has been reassigned to serve as the Commissioner and Secretary for the Home (Police) and Tourism departments.
Shortly after beginning his new duties, Baranwal met with Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong to discuss district affairs. This leadership change follows a broader bureaucratic reshuffle announced last month, which also designated Abhishek Saini as the new Deputy Commissioner for Ri-Bhoi.
