Guwahati: The All Assam Students' Union plans to launch a series of protests across the state starting May 22. The campaign aims to address the soaring prices of essential commodities that have placed a heavy financial burden on families throughout Assam.

AASU president Utpal Sarma stated that the student body will organize protest marches to pressure the government into taking corrective action. He criticized both the central and state authorities for their failure to manage inflation, describing the current market situation as an immense hardship for ordinary citizens.

Sarma characterized the upcoming movement as a necessary response to the ongoing economic strain. While the organization is committed to intensifying its demands, it has not yet released specific details regarding the protest locations or the final format of the demonstrations.
