AASAA Honors Freedom Fighter Birsa Munda in Tinsukia

Guwahati: The Tinsukia district committee of the All Adivasi Students’ Association of Assam (AASAA) held a commemorative event on Tuesday to mark the death anniversary of tribal leader and freedom fighter Birsa Munda. The gathering took place at the Bichakupi Tea Garden and brought together local residents, students, and community leaders to honor his legacy.

Doomdooma MLA Rupesh Gowala attended the ceremony to pay his respects. He stated, "I had joined the event organised by AASAA to commemorate Birsa Munda’s death anniversary."

Participants offered floral tributes and discussed the historical significance of Munda’s fight against British colonial rule. Speakers focused on his work to protect the land, rights, and identity of indigenous populations. Leaders encouraged the younger generation to embrace the values that Munda fought for throughout his life.
